METRO is the Ministry Equipping, Training & Recruiting Organisation of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria (PCV).
We work with and assist Presbyterian churches throughout Victoria, seeking to apply the Great Commission of Christ (Matt 28:18-20) in making and maturing disciples of Christ who will go on to make other disciple makers of Christ.
Committee
The METRO Committee has been appointed by the PCV to assist and encourage the church to recruit, train and equip gospel workers for ministry in the local church context through one-to-one traineeships.
METRO fulfils this purpose through three different traineeships (METRO, YouthMETRO and EquipMETRO), each designed with a different focus and time commitment required.
The committee facilitates and provides support to the trainees, trainers and churches involved each year in the three traineeships.
METRO Administration
Organized and dependable (yes, she colour-codes her calendar), Tina loves using her God-given skills to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes at METRO. By day, she’s a medical scientist running blood tests in a busy hospital lab. By night (or whenever she gets a break), she’s either deep in a book, cooking up something delicious, or chasing a ball on the futsal court. Whether in the lab, on the field, or in the kitchen, she’s passionate about serving Jesus in the everyday.
Partnerships
METRO works in partnership with churches in developing a disciple-making mindset. METRO also works alongside gospel minded organisations.
MTS
Ministry Training Strategy (MTS) works with churches across Australia training gospel workers through ministry traineeships.
The 2-year METRO traineeships in the Presbyterian Church of Victoria are undertaken in partnership with MTS. MTS provides the curriculum, financial structures and administrative support, as well as some training events and opportunities to network with other trainees.
PYCC
The Presbyterian Youth & Children's Committee (PYCC) runs camps, events and training for youth, children and churches around the state with Presbyterian Youth Victoria (PYV) and Presbyterian Kids Victoria (PKV).
The YouthMETRO traineeship is excellent preparation for becoming a PYV leader. During the traineeship, the YouthMETRO Summer Intensive is held at the PYV Summer Camp.
